Finally, I have managed to dig up a few other bits and pieces of information that will hopefully prove to you that you can get some things in life for free. The first is an article from the New York Times...
"Behind the offers are marketing companies whose goal is to generate customers for a wide range of businesses. They offer incentives -- money or products -- to people who sign up for items like credit cards, CD clubs or newspaper subscriptions. In return, the marketing company receives a fee, or bounty, for every customer it signs up."

Written by Rachel Metz, the article informs the reader of the growing use in affiliate marketing and descriptions in what must be done to gain your free gift.
"The promise of getting a free iPod from FreebieJeebies.co.uk looks extremely dubious. But surprisingly, the site appears to be legitimate. It's a new form of online marketing supported by companies like eBay, AOL and Columbia House."
